"Ready, Set, Learn!" Back-to-School Resource Fair on August 13

To help students and families gear up for a successful school year, Hood River County School District (HRCSD) invites the community to the annual Ready, Set, Learn! District and Community Resource Fair.

The event will take place on Thursday, August 13, 2026, from 5pm to 6:30pm at Hood River Valley High School.

"Ready, Set, Learn!" serves as a convenient "one-stop shop" where families can access essential school information and community resources all in one location. Attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Register for school bus transportation and learn about school meal programs.
  • Connect with various district departments and volunteer coordinators.
  • Meet with local community partners offering health, wellness, and educational support.
  • Participate in child-friendly activities hosted by community organizations.

“Our goal is to bring our district resources and community partners together to ensure every student has what they need before the first day of school,” said Bill Newton, HRCSD superintendent. “By hosting this at the high school, we also hope to help our younger students and their families feel more familiar and comfortable on the high school campus.”

In addition to this districtwide kickoff, individual schools will host open houses later in August and September to allow students to meet their teachers and explore their classrooms:

  • Middle Schools Open Houses: Wednesday, August 26
  • Elementary Schools Open Houses: Thursday, August 27
  • High School Open House: Thursday, Sept. 17
